Report on Speciality Contact Lens Lecture and Hands-on Session

Lecture on Scleral Contact lens and practice of Scleral contact lens.
The main concern of the session was to talk more about Prosthetic Replacement of Ocular Surface Ecosystem (PROSE), and its management on Ocular surface Disorders which was talked and practiced very less in the field but becoming more and more popular nowadays.
The session started with an introduction of guest faculty to students by Mr. Chinmay Deshpande (M. Optom, FIACLE) Asst. Prof BV (DU) MC School of Optometry following his talk on ‘Introduction of Scleral Lenses-Indications and how do they work.’
Guest faculty Mr. Sameer Ganu presented technical and clinical aspects of Scleral lens in detail and explained the use of these lenses in specific ocular conditions in the form of case studies which was followed with doubt clearing session.
After this, a quick live demonstration of insertion & removal of Scleral lens was displayed to all and a Hands-on session comprised of fitting of Scleral Contact lenses, Pre and Post Fitting Evaluation of scleral contact lens under slit lamp was conducted for M. Optometry students in clinic.
The practical session was of one and half hour, students were associated with two volunteers in the Clinic for the practical hands on session. They got the opportunity to visualize the post fit of the lens in both the volunteers under slit lamp in the clinic.
And the Day ended with Doubt clearing session at 04.30 p.m.
